Kirklees Young People Making a Drama out of a Crisis !

Students at Royds Hall High School have been working with Proper Job Theatre Company to create an exciting performance all about Relationships and Sexual Health.   The Group of 15 GCSE Drama Students enjoyed the fantastic opportunity of working with a professional Theatre Company for 8 weeks, and explored issues such as how young people make the decision to have sex, pressure from friends, how alcohol and drugs influence decision making, myths surrounding contraception and possible consequences of having unprotected sex.

The Drama piece was professionally filmed, including some scenes filmed in front of a ‘green screen’ allowing the students to be superimposed onto location scenes, such as on a cliff edge !

The film will be finished by the end of November, and the school plan to use it with other year groups as part of there already excellent lessons on Relationships & Sexual Health.  If the film proves popular there are plans to have copies made for all Kirklees High Schools – so watch this space !
