Boy Band Set To Give Young People’s Website Launch The X FactorThursday 7 Aug 2008 |
X Factor 2007 finalists, Future Proof, will be visiting Kirklees on Friday, 8th August to help launch a new sexual health advice website for young people.
The Kirklees Young People Friendly (KYPF) Summer Carnival Summer Launch event, which is taking place at Brian Jackson House, has been organised by the Public Health Team at NHS Kirklees.
More than a 100 girls and boys aged 13 – 19 have been invited along from schools in Dewsbury and Huddersfield.
Throughout the day, the specially invited guests will be treated to a range of fun activities including interactive workshops on dance, drama and urban art followed by an hour long performance from boy band, Future Proof.
A team of health specialists will also be on hand to demonstrate the new KYPF website which will give young people details of sexual health services in their area as well as information about where they can get advice.
Emm Erving, Health Improvement Practitioner at NHS Kirklees, and the brains behind the event, said:
“Improving access to sexual heath services needs to be more flexible. We are working closely with our partners to make sure young people feel able to access advice and information in a setting which is right for them. We want young people to feel that accessing sexual health services is not embarrassing or uncool and we are doing everything we can to break down the barriers.
“By developing the new KYPF website and kitemark, young people will know where to go and where they will have a positive experience.”
The KYPF works with services for young people to make sure they are accessible, confidential, are in the right environment, that staff are trained correctly and have the right values and attitude towards young people. Services that meet the criteria receive the KYPF kite mark.
